The police often shirk responsibility for their actions by saying that they were just doing their jobs.  They don’t write the laws, they just enforce them.  This defense was proven to be completely absurd with the violent arrest of Juanita Mendez-Medrano for selling flowers on the side of the road…without a license!  Cue the horror movie screeching sounds!  The police had some excuses for how they handled the situation.  Are they any good?  But we should be asking deeper questions such as why do the police enforce licensing laws such as this?  And why exactly do licensing laws exist in the first place?  Slappy and Rollo discuss this and more in Episode 49.
